The hotel is in a great location and near the gay district which is a fantastic part of the city. Getting a high up floor definitely improves the experience (8th floor is the top).īreakfast in the restaurant was very good and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. We came for the Halloween block party where the street is shut off, and it was amazing to have a 2 minute walk home! Like the rest of Dallas though, you’ll need to taxi/Uber to go literally anywhere else in the city. Location is perfect for the gay bars nearby on Cedar Springs Rd, so if you’re coming for that kind of party, there’s really no point staying anywhere else. The Warwick is a lovely big hotel with decent sized rooms. Very nice bathroom, nice amenities, comfortable bed. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. But upscale and enjoyable, with a piano player and a number of people dancing. Kind of an odd combination of the over 40s crowd (which we are) combined with a lot of gay couples (this is Oak Lawn). There was quite an eclectic clientele here after dinner.

The lobby is very nice and the bar is definitely bigger and better than the Stoneleigh bar. Although I like the Stoneleigh, I liked the Melrose better. Normally we stay at the Stoneleigh, which isn’t too far from the Melrose. I have to admit we stayed here because I accidentally booked the wrong hotel. This is an older, historic hotel with lots of charm. It’s convenient to Turtle Creek and Oak Lawn and is only about 10 minutes from lower Greenville. This is a great place to stay if you’re visiting Dallas and doing the lower Greenville/Oak Lawn area. Great hotel and great staff in cool gay neighborhood that is hoping on weekend nights! Great bar with jazz!
